LG says its move to less expensive passive glasses for 3D TV is paying off. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. One of the big debates in consumer electronics this year has been between companies like Panasonic, Sony and Samsung, which use active shutter glasses with their 3D TVs….and rivals like Vizio and LG…which have opted to go with inexpensive, movie theatre type passive technology. LG’s Public Affairs VP John Taylor…
“We did a lot of consumer research this year comparing it directly to competitors that use the active shutter glasses and the results were really dramatic showing consumers four to one prefer the overall experience of Cinema 3D. And it’s really showing in sales LG is growing much faster than the industry overall and we’re growing our market share.”
Of course, there is the promise of 3D with no glasses, but for family room screens, we’ll just have to wait. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
