An updated hybrid hard drive from Seagate.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Solid state drives have been coming down in price and gaining in capacity and because they have no moving parts, they can be faster and more durable than traditional hard drives for computers.   But they still lag far behind when it comes to how much storage you get for your dollar.   But now Seagate is out with the 2nd generation of its Momentus XT drive which uses solid state technology along with a traditional hard drive.   The advantages?  Seagate product marketing manager Joni Clark…

“In a sense, you’re getting an SSD on the front end and a hard drive on the back end integrated together with a very intelligent algorithm that will place your frequently used files into the SSD portion which makes you super fast.”

The capacity is 750 gigabytes and the suggested price is under 190 dollars.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more at   I’m Fred Fishkin.
