Even kids want their own tablets

Even kids want their own tablets.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.  Kids love tablets almost as much as their parents do, but putting a four or five hundred dollar iPad in the hands of a five year old is asking for disaster even if there are some great apps for kids.   That’s one of the reasons why LeapFrog’s LeapPad Explorer Learning Tablet has been so popular this holiday season.   It has a rugged design, a built in camera and lots of available e-books and apps.  You’ll need to hook it up to a computer to get those.    LeapFrog’s  Senior director of global content development David Perkinson…

All the content that’s made specifically for LeapPad is downloadable through our app center.  It also does play all the Leapster Explorer cartridges.  So if you happen to be a Leapster Explorer owner and want to buy Leapster Explorer cartridges they will play onboard your LeapPad.  So one of the great things about LeapPad is it has an enormous launch year library.  So even though it has only been out since August, it’s got over a hundred playable applications available for purchase.”

And, says Perkinson, there’s much more to come.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
