Speech recognition in an affordable alarm clock.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Apple’s Siri voice recognition in the iPhone 4S has been one of the breakthrough tech products of the year, but the technology can be very useful in some less expensive gadgets too.   For instance, a company called Interactive Voice is out with the Ivee alarm clock.   It works like this…

Hello Ivee.  “Command please.”  Time?  “The current time is 5:25 pm.”

Guess  I’m working late.   You can set and turn off alarms and check the temperature as well, all with your voice.    CEO Jonathon Nostrand calls it a personal bedside assistant…

“She’s a voice activated, talking alarm clock, which is the Digit model and then we also have the Flex model, which is a talking alarm clock radio.  Both of them respond to at least over thirty commands.”

The Ivee Digit sells for under fifty dollars.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
