Another new retro-look camera from Olympus. The OM-D EM5.

Techstination feature for Wednesday, February 8, 2012

Another new retro-look camera from Olympus.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Olympus has been one of the pioneers in bringing small interchangeable lens cameras to market.   The Pen brand of micro-four thirds format cameras borrows a name from the company’s rich history in cameras.   Now comes another micro-four thirds family…borrowing the OM brand.   Product manager Sally Smith Clemens…

“One of the things that makes us unique from some other manufacturers in this compact system camera space is the fact that we are a still camera manufacturer and we do have a strong legacy in that.  And we revived the form factor from our OM series SLRs back in the day of film into this new body of the OM-D product.  The model name on this particular product, which is the first one within the family is EM5.”

The EM5 includes and electronic view finder and an OLED articulating screen in a weatherproof sealed body.   There’s more info at Olympus.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
