Translating languages on the fly, socially: Chumkee

Translating languages on the fly.   Chumkee makes it social.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Online language translation isn’t exactly new.   Google has been doing that on the Web for a while.   But a social network platform for smartphones that lets people from all over the world converse with instant translations… that’s pretty cool.   Chumkee, that’s c-h-u-m-k-e-e, was created by C-Vibes, where CEO David Aumonier says the new version 2.0, works with text and videos…

“We are an open network which means that you can meet people from all over the world using our platform .  It’s obviously facilitated with the real time translations in thirty different languages so you can meet people from different cultures and totally different backgrounds that you wouldn’t have met on another social network that doesn’t have the translation capability.”

The interface is fun and different as well.  Chumkee, for now, is available only for Apple’s iOS devices.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
