Science and nature toys for kids.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.       The toy company Uncle Milton is best known, perhaps, for creating Ant Farms for kids and classrooms.   Last year, it introduced a model with a light in the base that projected shadows of the crawling ants onto a ceiling.   And this year, says Uncle Milton’s Hillary Fine…

“In the Ant Farm brand we now have a Butterfly Jungle where you can order online some caterpillars.  When you get them you can watch them morph into butterflies.  And once they’ve morphed into butterflies you can release them into nature.”

There’s also a partnership with National Geographic in what are called Expedition Shoe Lights…

“And they hook to your shoes,  you can angle them any way you want.  And they have two different light modes.  One is path finder, which is just a bright white light to light your way.  And the other is the night view, which is a red light, so you can kind of see things you wouldn’t normally see.”

Parents might find them handy too, for walking the dog and such. There’s more info at UncleMilton.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
