Making a better camera app. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. For lots of us, cameras in our smartphones have become the one we use most. Even if you have a great camera at home, it isn’t likely to to be with you all of the time. So one of the top names in photo sharing sites, SmugMug, went about creating a new app to help phones take better pictures. The iPhone version of Camera Awesome is out now, and CEO Don MacAskill says…
“We felt like we should be able to turn a relatively ordinary photo into something awesome right there on the phone. We have lots of filters, textures, frames, effects and of course we do have that one tap Awsomeize button which will use a really awesome image processing algorithm to take a look at your photo and see if we can improve it automatically for you.”
The app is free, you don’t have to be a SmugMug customer and an Android version is in the works too. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
