The latest in the ultrabook line…from Dell.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Packing lots of power into a slim lightweight computer has always been a challenge and Intel has been working with  computer makers to tackle it with what are called ultrabooks.   The latest is from Dell, the XPS 13.   Executive Director of laptop product marketing Brian Pitstick…

“It’s extremely sleek and thin and light, just like a number of other different ultrabooks.  It’s less than 3 pounds, it’s 18 millimeters thin.   But the really cool thing about it is as you look at the device, it looks about the same size as a traditional 11 inch notebook, but it actually features a large 13 inch screen.  So we’ve really been able to compact the system .”

The base model, with a Core i5 processor sells for just under a thousand dollars.   The Gorilla glass , solid state drive and overall craftsmanship make it a top competitor.   You can find us, with archivesk, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
