Kids can learn what not to eat…from an app.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   When it comes to food, kids, like their parents, don’t always make the best choices.  That’s one of the reasons why First Lady Michelle Obama  held a national contest for apps for healthy kids.   And one of the winners was an app called SmashYourFood from Food ‘N Me, created by a husband and wife team, Marta, a nutritionist,  and Frederic  De Wulf….

“Children can actually go on the iPad and see high definition video of burgers, French fries, milkshakes, being absolutely smashed to smithereens.  And the inspiration came when, we’ve seen our children eat a lot of food but they just don’t know what’s in them.  They don’t know how much sugar, salt and oil is in them and we thought that was a simple, graphic way to show them.”

The app is full of fun and facts.   It’s priced at under three dollars.    You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
