The Google Art Project continues to grow.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      More than 150 museums around the world are now part of the Google Art Project,  making thousands of galleries available for you to virtually visit any time you choose.    Well, at least during lunch breaks when you’re at work.   The data lead for the project at Google is Piotr Adamczyk…

“The idea is to bring more of the museum images and collection information online.  The way we do it is by giving the museums a platform where they can show high resolution images, also provide virtual tours using Street View technology.  So if you’re familiar from Google Maps, the street level detail that we’re able to provide on the outside, now we’re bringing that inside the museums to make virtual tours.  As well as gigapixel images, which are super high resolution images that we can pull in to brush stroke level detail.”

You can create galleries of your favorites and even share them.   The site is GoogleArtProject.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
