Done using that PC?   Should you turn it off, set it to hibernate, or put it in sleep mode?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     To lots of users of Windows PCs, it can be a bit confusing.   What’s the best thing to do with your computer when you aren’t going to be using it for a couple of hours or even overnight.   There’s some new advice from Iolo Technologies, maker of System Mechanic.   Marketing VP J. J. Schoch says there have been lots of opinions, so Iolo decided to do some measuring…

“And Iolo Labs measured it and what we discovered was that sleep mode wins the day by a long shot.  Sleep mode will save you about two dollars of power a month per PC.  It also will save you about twenty five minutes per month between all the start up and shut downs…all that time that it takes.”

Iolo says sleep mode is also better for the health of the PC as well…saving on wear and tear… unless the computer won’t be used for a long period of time.   Then it’s best to simply shut down.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
