Looking for a bargain mobile phone service? Voyager Mobile.

Techstination feature for Monday, May 28, 2012

Looking for a bargain mobile phone service?   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   After some initial problems with a malicious attack to its Web site, Voyager Mobile is off the ground, and that is good news for cost conscious consumers.   The company,  created and led by 22 year old NYU student John Mardini, offers two service plans…unlimited voice, text and data for 39 dollars a month and a 19 dollar a month plan without data.   The company is using Sprint’s 3G and 4G WiMax networks and while the coverage is nationwide, service initially is being sold in less than two dozen states.    About his motivation, Mardini says…

“We’re tired of seeing people pay an arm and a leg for cell service.  You go abroad to these European countries and you compare how much they’re paying with how much we’re paying over here and it’s astronomical how expensive cell phone service is in this country.”

There’s more info at VoyagerMobile.com.   You can find full interviews and more at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
