LeapFrog readies a new tablet for kids.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   LeapFrog’s LeapPad Explorer was one of those in demand, hard to find gifts for kids last holiday season.   Now the educational toymaker is following up with the LeapPad 2, due out later this summer,  along with a new version of its popular Leapster handheld.   Senior director of product marketing Monica Brown …

“So we’ve added a bunch of different things to LeapPad 2.  The first is we’ve added a second camera  and we’ve upgraded both cameras to two megapixels.  So now kids can easily take a picture of their favorite subject, themselves.  We’ve also added rechargeability, which was probably the number one request from mom.”

That does require the purchase of an add on pack.   But LeapFrog is holding the line on pricing at 99 dollars for the LeapPad 2 and the Leapster GS will sell for under 70.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
