Google takes on the Kindle Fire and iPad with the Nexus 7

Google takes on the Kindle and iPad with the Nexus 7.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Google is partnering with Asus to deliver a new 7 inch tablet loaded with features and the new Jellybean version of Android.  And with a 199 price for an 8 gigabyte version and 249 for one with double that,  there’s plenty for competitors to worry about.   Daniel Sieberg is a technologist at Google…

“It’s got a quad core processor, this 1280 by 800 display, it integrates all of the Google tools you’re used to.  Chrome,  Gmail and Google+ and Google Play.   So it’s got all of this entertainment content, but is also a fully featured Android tablet.  And for two hundred dollars we really feel like that’s a great deal for folks.”

There are lower priced tablets out there, but not with the kind of specs being included here.   There’s more info at Google.com/play.   You can find us, with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
