When it comes to Nintendo's handheld game machines, bigger is better

When it comes to Nintendo’s handheld game machines, bigger is better.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Companies like Nintendo and Sony are facing some tough competition in the handheld game business from the wide variety of games available on Android and Apple smartphones.   Nintendo is fighting back with the new 3DS XL, featuring two bigger screens and improved design.   Senior manager of public relations Kit Ellis…

“It’s got some nice rounded edges to it.   It’s got a great feel.  And as far as the screen to body ratio, it’s actually a little bit less.  So it’s not, doesn’t feel that large in your hand although the screens are very big.”

Which can enhance game play and experiences like watching movies or TV shows from Netflix on the device.   The 3DS XL, which also has better battery life than the original 3DS, is priced at about 200 dollars, with the original 3DS now selling for 30 dollars less.    You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
