Is it an Android based computer or a monitor?   The new Smart Display from ViewSonic.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp,  a report on gadgets and gear.     Viewsonic has created a new product category with its 22 inch VSD220 Smart Display.     It is a full HD touch screen with a dual core processor and Android 4.0 and WiFi built in.    So you can browse the Web, check email and run apps or you can choose to use the HDMI input to let the screen work as a computer monitor or as a TV.   Product Marketing Director Eric Willey says versatility is the key to the Smart Display…

“It could be set up in the living room as kind of a family access point.  We’ve seen scenarios where customers have talked about using them in the kitchen to look up recipes.  But then they would also have the ability to maybe connect their notebook computer directly to this device.”
