The latest tablet for kids from LeapFrog

Techstination feature for Thursday, September 27, 2012

The latest tablet for kids from LeapFrog.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    The LeapPad 2 has arrived in stores as a follow up to last year’s hot selling original tablet for young children.   The new features?  Senior Director of Product Marketing Monica Brown…

“The first is we’ve added a second camera and we’ve upgraded both cameras to two megapixels. So now kids can easily take a picture of their favorite subject, themselves.   We’ve also added rechargeability which was probably the number one request from mom.”

On the downside, the recharger pack is a significant add on purchase, adding more than 50 dollars to the 99 dollar base price of the LeapPad 2.  Still the ruggedness and wealth of educational and fun software make it worthwhile.  There’s also an updated handheld from Leap Frog, the LeapsterGS.  It features a larger screen and sells for under 70 dollars.     It, too, is rugged and keeps the focus on learning.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.
