More appliances connected to the Internet.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    A refrigerator with built in speakers for streaming music?   Washers and dryers that send alerts to your phone?  Those are just some of the things Whirlpool was showing off at this month’s International Consumer Electronics Show.  Senior Brand Manager Tanu Grewal….

“The idea behind the smart appliances is that you can manage these appliances through a mobile app from anywhere.  So that gives you a lot of peace of mind and frees up your time so you don’t have to wait and babysit the washer while it’s running, or the dishwasher.  You can actually go out, do your errands, get your groceries and through the app you’ll get a message on your mobile phone to say, hey, your cycle is about to be complete in like ten minutes, so you can run home.”

And your refrigerator could let you know that the power was out when you weren’t home.     Models will start to arrive in March.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
