The video game world of Skylanders is getting even better.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Activision’s gamble on a video game for kids designed to bring physical toys to life on screen has paid off with sales of over 500 million dollars.  Now the company has announced the upcoming Skylanders  Swap Force that will bring characters with interchangeable parts.   CEO Eric Hirshberg….

“Kids can literally take the characters, break them apart, put them back together in different combinations and create their own customizable characters and then have those choices recognized inside the game.”

And the good news is that the Skylanders toys kids already have won’t become obsolete…

“Every toy that kids have bought, and there’ve been over  a  hundred million sold today, every toy from Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure and every toy from Skylanders Giants will play in Skylanders Swap Force.  So we’re adding tremendous value.”
