The Node from Variable Technologies. Multi-faceted sensor.

Techstination feature for Friday, March 29, 2013

It’s about the size of a roll of quarters, but it’s a digital wonder.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   A company called Variable Technologies  has created that little gadget called the Node.  It’s equipped with Bluetooth and motion sensors and uses interchangeable modules on either end to detect temperature, color, light and gases.  It communicates with recent iPhones and iPads via Bluetooth 4.0.   CEO and Founder Dr. George Yu…

“So you can do things like measuring temperature at a distance, you can measure your paint,  you can measure the color of your paint and match it to a paint color.  You can do things like look at the humidity level in your house, ambient light, what elevation you are on and much, much more depending on the sensor module that you plug in.”

It’s very cool and pretty simple to use.  The Node is priced at about a hundred fifty dollars.  There’s more info at VariableTech.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
