AOL pushes its Digital Cities into the wireless world. I'm Fred Fishkin with Bootcamp, a ThirdAge.com report on computers and technology. How many times has this happened to you? You're on your way out to dinner... in the car... .and you and your spouse or significant other are still trying to decide where to go! If you were at home, you could jump online to look up interesting restaurants. But hold on, America Online is rolling out Digital City Wireless, putting all kinds of information, including those restaurant guides on Web enabled phones. AOL Interactive Properties Group President Ted Leonsis... .

"On your screen you would have listings, here it would say Digital Cities. It would have restaurants. You'd hit 1, it would say restaurants and then you'd scroll down, it would say French restaurants, Italian restaurants, you'd hit French, it would list them. It would say, do you want to make a reservation, press *86."

Digital Cities, by the way is expanding to provide information about 200 local communities around the country. Initially AOL will make the wireless information available on Sprint PCS phones. And are you ready for this? AOL Buddy Lists and Instant Messages in your pocket...

"You'll have your Buddy List there. You'll be able to see who's online, just the same as when you're online and your buddy shows up, you hear the door open and he shows up online... we'll have the same with the phone."
