A special new camera from Pentax Ricoh.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      Pentax Ricoh Imaging is out with a compact camera called the Ricoh GR.  It has a fixed 18 millimeter lens and a 16 megapixel APS-C sized sensor and a 3 inch LCD screen.   What it is designed to do is bring great image quality into a pocket sized camera.   Senior Marketing Manager John Carlson…

“It’s really kind of designed for the advanced photo enthusiast.  There’s a huge following in the street photography community with the previous models where you have a fixed prime lens where you can have the best image quality.  When you start throwing zoom lenses into a compact camera, you’re making compromises.  Not to say that zoom lenses are bad, but you’re making compromises.  But we wanted, with this camera, to really get the best possible image quality.”

The Ricoh GR is priced at about 800 dollars.  It’s for those who really love photography and probably own an interchangeable lens camera already.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
