LeapFrog's new LeapReader for kids

Techstination feature for Wednesday, May 15, 2013

A new learning toy for kids from LeapFrog.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    It’s called the LeapReader, a new pen shaped device from LeapFrog designed for 3 to 8 year olds.   The company, which has pioneered the use of technology in learning toys, is replacing the Tag reading system with the Leap Reader, which adds lots of new features.  Senior VP for Product Marketing Criag Hendrickson…

“It’s the first product that brings reading and writing together in one single platform so kids can learn reading fundamentals along with important writing skills all together.  And on top of that, we also offer an audio library of classic audio books that kids can listen to on the go.”

Along with music.   The writing function uses special books with embedded ink so there is no need for ink in the LeapReader itself.  It will be compatible with the full library to books that were developed for the Tag reader when it arrives around the end of next month for about fifty dollars.     You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
