Acer focuses on touch screens

Acer focuses on touch screens.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Acer has unveiled the versatile Aspire R7 with a touch screen that can flip, reverse, lie flat or float.  But even down to its more standard notebooks like the V5 and V7, touch screens are being offered as an option.    Senior product marketing and brand manager Eric Ackerson says those touch screens are almost a necessity with Windows 8….

“We think Windows 8 is great.  And it’s a great experience. But I need to preface that by saying with touch.  It’s certainly good on its own but when you have a touch interface on your system, using the screen to interact, it’s so much better.  That’s why we at Acer have invested so heavily into having the widest portfolio of offerings with touch screens.  Touch interface with Windows 8 is really where it’s at.”

There’s more info on the lineup at Acer.com.  You can find us,  with archives, interviews and more, at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
