Love it, hate it or somewhere in the model. The Ouya game console arrives. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. While Sony and Microsoft prepare their new blockbuster game machines that will arrive later this year…along comes Kickstarter funded Ouya to shake things up with a stylish little cube powered by the Android OS. Founder and CEO Julie Uhrman…says it is designed to be a very different kind of game machine from the get go…
“It’s 99 dollars …where all of the games are free to try. In addition to having games from game publishers and developers that you know..like Square Enix and Sega, we have games from independent game developers and even new game developers that have always wanted to build a game for a television but haven’t been able to do so before.”
And so some games are good…and some…not so much. But the open concept has merit….and we hope…there’s much more to come. There’s more info at OUYA.com. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
