A coup for Vimeo

A coup for Vimeo.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   When the Neil Labute film Some Girl(s) arrived in theaters in New York and L.A. this summer, it also arrived…same day….on Vimeo on Demand.   It marks another step in the direct to consumer distribution movement by independent and some Hollywood filmmakers.   Vimeo CEO and Founder Kerry Trainor….

“This is really an exciting milestone for us and the new Vimeo on Demand service which now empowers a filmmaker of any level to offer his or her film for sale direct to their audiences around the world.  What we’re seeing in the case of Some Girl(s) is established, known, Hollywood creators, in this case the writer Neil Labute and the stars Adam Brody and Kristen Bell, who would otherwise have access to almost any traditional distribution channel, opting to distribute their film through Vimeo on Demand because of the additional control that we offer them.”

It’s five dollars to rent…ten dollars to buy.   There’s more at Vimeo.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
