3D printing.   The fun is just getting started.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    If you haven’t had a look at the new world of 3D printing yet…maybe it’s time for a peek.     More and more companies are getting in the business of creating them.   The idea is you can create real objects…usually made of plastic….that you design or download on a computer.   The online retailer Dynamism.com now has opened up a shop within a shop….dedicated to 3D printers.   CEO Douglas Krone says prices range from 500 dollars to several thousand.  What are people doing with them?

“People are making all kinds of things.   A lot of people have fun making their own iPhone cases or Galaxy cases that they download online.  Maybe you need a screw or a part for something and instead of having to order it from the manufacturer or import from China, you can just print the part that you need.”

The fun, like we said, is just beginning…and 3D printing will become even more affordable.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
