More wireless charging coming to Starbucks

More wireless charging coming to Starbucks.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.     After a successful test in Boston, Starbucks is expanding its use of wireless charging spots to San Jose and the Silicon Valley area.   It is using Duracell Powermat’s technology, which is also being adopted by General Motors for in car charging, McDonalds, and AT&T.   Powermat president Daniel Schreiber…says the goal is to have an open standard with wireless charging widely available…

“When we sit down for our coffee, we anyway place our smartphone on the table top and when we go to bed it’s on the bedside table and when we go to work it’s on the conference table or on a desk.  And the aim, the goal, the vision here, is not to modify your behavior, but to modify those surfaces so as you go through your day, your device gets replenished as you put it down from place to place.”

So frustrations with battery life…become a thing of the past.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
