The merging of toys and video games.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.        What do your kids spend time playing with?    Odds are they enjoy some of the old fashioned toys and games…but spend a good deal of time playing with tablets, smartphones and game consoles.    There hasn’t been a lot of dialogue between folks in the toy and video game industries…but that is about to change with an event this month called the World Congress of Play.   Toy industry veteran and co-founder Richard Gottlieb….

“Those who make up the various industries that service these consumers really don’t know each other.  People in the video game business don’t have relationships or even knowledge of those in the toy industry or the digital industry or even playgrounds and theme parks.  So our point was to bring all these people together in one place and in doing so break down these silos that separate these different kinds of play.”
