An Internet camera with lots of smarts. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. A company called Black Sumac is getting ready to ship a crowd funded Internet camera called Piper….and it is designed to do much more than give you a glimpse of your home from your smartphone. Black Sumac’s Carla DeCiccio….
“So it has a Z-Wave controller in it which allows you to remotely control accessories and devices in your house and can also be paired with external sensors as well. Inside Piper itself is a ton of sensors. There’s temperature, humidity, light levels, sound levels, motion detection, on top of the video that we also have.”
The camera provides a wide angle view of a room. Piper is selling for as low as 209 dollars and the company is promising no monthly fees. You can find us with archives, interviews and more at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
