Saying hello to your thermostat. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. It’s due to arrive on the market next month. A new WiFi Smart Thermostat from Honeywell that adds Voice Control…
“Hello Thermostat. Hello. Please say a command. And at that point you can add in the command you’re looking for.”
Tony Uttley is Honeywell’s general manager for home comfort and energy systems. He says the thermostat looks up commands online…kind of like Apple’s Siri….
“We use cloud processing to make sure that we can take something like, if somebody’s saying, I want to be warmer, and that’s close enough to make it warmer…then we can link those two together. So basically what we do is use crowd sourcing over a number of users of this to be able to get to the point where we can continue to get the product even better."
It actually learns. The price? About 350 dollars. There’s more info at WiFiThermostat.com. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
