Dropping in on the new Dropcam Pro

Dropping in on the new Dropcam Pro.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Dropcam’s latest Internet connected camera adds some great new features…like the ability to zoom into areas of the wide angle view from your smartphone or tablet…without the image getting fuzzy.   While the camera connects via WiFi…it also incorporates Bluetooth LE to make set up simple.   Beyond that, CEO Greg Duffy says it will open the door to other connections ….

“So we really think about Bluetooth LE and Dropcam Pro as an opportunity to create a platform for the connected home.  Video, we believe, is going to be the center of the connected home, the way that you figure out what’s going on whenever a sensor tells you that something has happened.  We’re really looking into areas like security and home control and all the different areas of the connected home that we can enable with low power networking.”

There’s much more to come.   The Dropcam Pro is priced at about 200 dollars.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
