The battle for game console supremacy

Techstination feature for Friday, November 22, 2013

Another round in the Sony vs. Microsoft battle for video game console supremacy.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    With the arrival of the Xbox One and the launch a week earlier of the PlayStation 4…..Microsoft and Sony are going head to head again.   The PlayStation 4’s 400 dollar price tag is 100 dollars below the Xbox One.    But Microsoft includes the Kinect ….while Sony charges 60 dollars for the add on PlayStation Camera.    It is likely, though, that if you’re in the market for either of the new game consoles this holiday season….what you’ll find more available are bundles that will be above those base prices.  Sony appears to be focused more on the gaming experience….while Microsoft wants to be the box at the heart of entertainment in the home…including TV.   Which is right for your family…will be a matter of taste.   Both machines are essentially high end computers with great graphics capabilities.   If you have a PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360 though….don’t get ready to trade it in just yet.   Neither of the new consoles is designed to let you play game discs from the previous generation.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
