Some new bulbs growing in the AeroGarden.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   The folks at AeroGrow have made hydroponic gardening popular with their AeroGardens and seed kits.  The company, with backing now from Scotts Miracle Gro, has added the AeroGarden Ultra LED to its line up.   CEO J. Michael Wolfe….says the LED bulbs make a big difference…

“Well I think the important thing about that is it’s just a much more efficient way to grow.  It uses much less electricity, it’s a much more efficient way to get the lights to the plants.  So they grow three and four times faster than even our old technology.  That technology was about ten times faster than growing in soil.”

The price is higher…topping three hundred dollars… but the bulbs will last much longer.  There’s also an Ultra version that does not use LEDs.   I don’t know that you can save money on herbs and such…but if year round freshness matters…it is worthwhile.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
