The holidays can be a dangerous time for your techie gadgets.  I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   This is a dangerous time of year for smartphones, tablets and like.   So says a survey conducted for Square Trade, a company that is in the business of selling protection plans for those gadgets.   It found more than half of damage claims this time of year were the result of holiday activities.   Square Trade CEO Steve Abernethy….

“One in eight Americans damage their device during the holidays doing all those things that we do.  Travel, cook, decorate and shop.”

The company hears all kinds of stories about how  gadgets were broken or damaged…

“Seasonally appropriate, one guy dropped his into a fireplace when he was getting the fire going.  It didn’t do too well.”
