Nokia and Dreamworks turn travel into adventure game

Techstination feature for Friday, December 20, 2013

Nokia and DreamWorks team up to turn car rides into an adventure.  I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Kids getting antsy in the car is an issue lots of parents face.  What Nokia and DreamWorks Animation have done is come up with Dragons Adventure…a game for two of the newer Nokia tablets.   It makes your current location…even the weather and traffic conditions…part of the game.   Pete Mauro is Producer of Global Innovation and App Development at Nokia…

“The really unique technology that we created here is this map transformation.   So we’re taking your current location and we’re taking our Here mapping technology and we’re taking the roads and the streets and the places that you see around you and transforming them into the Isle of Berk, where How to Train Your Dragon takes place.   When you look outside and see a gas station and you look down at the tablet, you’ll see a medieval representation of that.”

Again it’s available on the Nokia Lumia 2520 and Lumia 1520 devices.    You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
