Building a better vacuum: Gtech AirRam

Techstination feature for Friday, February 14, 2014

Another better vacuum from another British engineer.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    Don’t look now, but there’s another high tech vacuum on the market designed by a British engineer.  Nick Grey is the man behind the Gtech AirRam.   How is it different?

“So most vacuum cleaners, in fact all vacuum cleaners for the last hundred years have gathered the dirt through narrow tubes and taken it to a bag or a cyclone further from the brush bar.  What the AirRam does is it moves it a much shorter distance, but through a wide slot. And what this means is we can make a very effective cleaning job with just a hundred watts of power.  So for the first time, we can provide a lightweight, cordless product which will clean your home from top to bottom really, really well but there’s no cord and it’s very lightweight.”

Amazingly so.   And there’s a USB port and software that will tell you how many calories you’ve burned while cleaning.   The price…about 350 dollars.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
