Sony's camera innovations continue

Techstination feature for Monday, March 3, 2014

When it comes to interchangeable lens cameras, the innovation continues at Sony.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   While it’s great to be able to snap pictures and video anytime and anywhere with   a smartphone,  there are still lots of reasons to own an interchangeable lens camera.   We’ve had a look at Sony’s remarkable Alpha a7, which packs a full frame sensor into a small, light, mirrorless camera body.   The biggest plus is the ability to carry around a camera that can produce pro results…without having all the weight.  The lack of an external battery charger is a bit of an annoyance.   Sony has also announced another new Alpha, the a6000.  Sony Imaging Senior Technology Manager Mark Weir…

“Now we can offer a camera with all of the advantages of compact size and low weight, but without giving up any of the performance of even the very best professional SLRs.”

The a6000, with an APSC size sensor, will arrive in stores next month for under 800 dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
