A water cooler that gets water from air: Untapped Water Systems

Techstination feature for Tuesday, March 18, 2014

A water cooler that gets its water from the air.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   It is technology used by space programs and by every day dehumidifiers.   A company called Untapped Water Systems is bringing a water cooler system to consumers…that in most climates…will provide all the water you need from the air.   Executive Director Chad Ordoyne…

“It takes the air in.  It purifies the air, takes out all bacteria, virus that might be present and then it chills the air which causes the water to condense and fall out.   We collect it in an anti-germ tank and the whole system’s protected.  There’s no bacteria that can grow inside.  And then we provide, hot, cold, warm water.”

The system won’t be cheap when it arrives this fall.  Pricing will be in the neighborhood of 18 hundred dollars, but the company says it will save users money over time.   There’s more info at UntappedWaterSystems.com.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
