A hot water heater with smarts.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      Having to replace a hot water heater is no fun.   But the end result can be.  A company called Trutankless is out with, as the name implies, a tankless water heater…and it is electric, not gas.   And it has lots of tech built in.  Chief Operating Officer Derrick Mains….

“So what we said is look, let’s create a unit, a device that is connected with the cloud.   That’s constantly drawing information from all of the other units that are out there.  But then, in case there ever is a problem, let’s say a leak’s detected, the system is smart enough that it will shut the water off,  order the replacement part needed to get back to full functionality.   It will call, text and email the plumber that’s assigned to that unit.”
