Easy add-on for garage door automation: MyQ

An easy add-on for garage door automation.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   The folks at Chamberlain would, of course, love to sell you a new garage door opener.   But even if you have an opener made by another company…odds are they can help you to control it with your smartphone…iOS or Android with its MyQ system.    Senior Marketing Manager Maureen Silber…

“For most garage door openers made in the last 20 years, it works wirelessly.  There’s just two different components that you put in your garage.  One is a door sensor that mounts on the top panel on the inside of the garage door.  And then the other is our WiFi hub.  It mounts on the ceiling because there’s a light and a warning noise.  So if there’s someone in the garage as someone is closing it remotely.  They have eight seconds of a warning to go over and stop it if they wanted.”

MyQ installs easily and lets you check to see if you left the door open from you smartphone…and then close it.  The price…about 129 dollars.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
