Latest Linksys wireless router has new features in familiar design

Techstination feature for Monday, May 12, 2014

A new wireless router with a familiar design.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   More than a decade after Linksys introduced its blue and black WRT54G router…which became a fixture in many households and businesses with over 50 million units sold…the WRT1900AC has arrived.  The colors and design are a throwback…but the technology is all new.  There are four antennas for extended WiFi coverage, USB and SATA ports for attaching external drives, and says Belkin Linksys Product Marketing Manager Chris Bainer…

“We put a dual core 1.2 gigahertz processor in this and that’s going to really provide the horse power needed for great WiFi and for great file transfer speeds on your local network.  We added network map and the Linksys Smart WiFi makes it very easy to use.  As more and more people have more and more prices in the home they’re going to want the best router.”

You can find it at store.linksys.com for about 250 dollars.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
