More capabilities are coming to the Kevo Bluetooth lock. I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear. Kevo is the name of a cool deadbolt lock from Kwikset that uses low energy Bluetooth technology to let you open it up via a mobile device…or with the touch of your finger. You’ll need to have your iOS device with you or a dongle that come with the lock. It was developed by Unikey, where founder and president Phil Dumas says the latest update makes Kevo even more useful…
“We’re launching a new software version for your door lock that’s going to increase the speed but also give you some new features like limited time keys, which a lot of people have been asking for. So if you have a service worker, you can send them a key for Mondays and Wednesdays between two and three p.m. only. Or if you have a friend that gets to your place before you, you can send them a one time key.”
For now, those you send keys to have to be using iPhones…but Android compatibility is in the works. You can find us at BootCamp.com. I’m Fred Fishkin.
