Belkin wants to be the go to company for the connected home.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   Belkin’s Linksys routers provide the wireless networks used by many homes.   And it’s rapidly expanding its WeMo technology designed to let consumers connect and control everything from lighting to Crockpots and coffee makers.   CEO Chet Pipkin says the partnership with appliance maker Jardin..with its Crockpot and Mr. Coffee brands…is just the start…

“We’re in active dialogue with a whole host of folks.  We have this concept that we call WeMo Smart.  So it’s a little module that goes into an appliance and very rapidly and very easily turns this appliance from an unconnected device into part of this WeMo ecosystem.  So you’ll be hearing more and more names as they gets in a place where we are able to talk about it.”

And for consumers…the WeMo apps for iOS and Android make the products easy to install and control.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
