Letting kids earn time to play on mobile screens: eCarrot

Techstination feature for Monday, July 28, 2014

Letting kids earn their time to play on mobile screens.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.   eCarrot is the name of a new app, initially for Android, designed to get kids to use their mobile devices for learning…and get play time credits.   CEO Patrick Grimes…

“Literally what we’re doing is taking control of the user interface, such that the end user is asked to answer, in the simplest case, arithmetic questions.  And for each correct answer, time is earned and collected into a bank.  That bank can be used to create opportunities to enjoy the otherwise available features of the smart device.”

It works with most Android tablets and smartphones.   eCarrot is free to try for 30 days and then costs about five dollars a month.   You can find us at   I’m Fred Fishkin.
