Garmin adds smarts to it line of fitness trackers.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      Garmin’s Vivofit activity trackers have been winning lots of fans…and are being featured on this season’s Biggest Loser TV series.  They automatically adjust your activity goals for the day based on what you’ve done previously and serve as a watch too.   And the Vivofit battery can last up to a year.   Now Garmin is out with Vivosmart…. a rechargeable band that adds smartwatch capabilities.  The company’s Amy Johnson….

“You will get incoming texts, calls, calendar reminders. ”

It can control Garmin’s line of VIRB action cameras and can also pair with heart rate chest straps…which are sold separately or in a bundle.   The price for the Vivosmart alone is about 170 dollars.  There’s a lot to like…but if you care more about not having to charge a fitness tracker and not so much about smartphone notifications, the Vivofit may be a better choice.   You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
