Here comes another robotic vacuum. Dyson's Eye 360

Here comes another robotic vacuum.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.    The folks at iRobot are getting some serious competition.   Dyson will be competing with the Roomba line with the Eye 360 robotic vacuum.    Senior design engineer Robert Green says the big difference will be in the cleaning power…

“A lot of conventional robotic vacuums rely on very simple dirt collection containers and then a filter to filter out the finer parts from the air flow.   And the problem with this is as it picks up more dust and dirt, that filter can become blocked.  It reduces the suction power.   By using the cyclone technology, you’re getting no loss of suction.”

The Dyson Eye 360, which uses a camera to navigate around a room,  will arrive first in Japan…priced at about a thousand dollars.   It will arrive in the U.S. most likely early next year.   You can find us with archives, interviews and more, at BootCamp.com.    I’m Fred Fishkin.
