Is there still a need for a GPS device?  Garmin answers yes with a new line of Nuvis.   I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      Lots of folks use smartphones as navigation devices with apps like Waze and more proving very useful.   But what Garmin has done with the new Nuvi Advanced series is impressive.  There are units with 5, 6 and 7 inch multi-touch displays.  They include lifetime map updates and live traffic.   And says Garmin’s Johann-Till Broer….

“They’re also the first Nuvis that integrate Four Square menus, whihch helps you to explore new restaurants, stores and many other places.   It actually adds millions of points of interest to the onboard database.  And so what that means is that points of interest are saved on the device.  So you can navigate and search for places without a data connection.”

Pricing for the Nuvi Advanced series starts at about 200 dollars.   You can navigate to us at BootCamp.com.  I’m Fred Fishkin.
