Fun with wearable tech: Faux Glass

Techstination feature for Thursday, November 6, 2014

Having some fun with wearable tech.    I’m Fred Fishkin with technology BootCamp, a report on gadgets and gear.      There are some interesting apps available for Google Glass,  those high priced wearable gadgets with a built in camera and smartphone connection.    But you don’t have to shell out a lot of money to look like you’re wearing them.   Long time tech journalist and founder of Living in Digital Times Robin Raskin is out with what she calls Faux Glass….

“They look like augmented reality glasses but all they have are seven LED lights. We created a language called Faux with commands like what the Faux for the search function, where the Faux for the GPS function.   So people are having a good time playing  with the whole idea of having a faux world around augmented reality.”

The price….just twenty bucks.  There’s more info at Faux.glass.    The fun isn’t faux at all.  You can find us at BootCamp.com.   I’m Fred Fishkin.
